What level of insurance do you actually need?

Our insurance is designed to help protect your hard work, equipment, and finances if something goes wrong. Because every project is unique, you build your own policy by choosing only the covers you need.

It’s worth understanding there’s no legal requirement for businesses without employees to get insurance in the UK. But for many jobs, employers can require insurance to secure the contract.

There are a range of other types of cover available that you may need. These will be explained and offered when you complete a quote.

Public and product liability insurance

Often required for contracts. This insurance applies if your day-to-day work accidentally injures someone or damages their property. Product liability insurance extends your protection to cover any illness or damage caused by the items you sell.

Professional indemnity insurance

Required by some regulated professions like solicitors, architects, and financial advisers. This insurance helps cover the costs of compensation and legal fees if a client makes a financial loss because of your work.

Helps cover the replacement costs of equipment you use in your day-to-day activities like your laptop, tools, and raw materials if they’re stolen or damaged.

Employers’ liability insurance

A legal requirement once you employ people. This insurance helps protect you and your employees if they’re injured or become unwell as a result of working for you. Exemptions do apply in some cases, most notably for family businesses that only employ close relatives.
