As an Actuarial Co-op, you will be an integral part of our actuarial team, working alongside experienced actuaries and other professionals. You will have the opportunity to apply your quantitative skills to real-world insurance problems, gaining valuable insights into the P&C insurance industry. This role will provide exposure to various actuarial functions, including ratemaking, reserving, and data analytics.
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Term: Fall 2025, 6-12 months
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the analysis of premium and loss data to support ratemaking and pricing decisions for various P&C insurance products.
- Contribute to the quarterly and annual reserving process by helping to prepare data and perform initial analyses.
- Utilize and develop spreadsheets, databases, and other software to manipulate and analyze large datasets.
- Support the development and maintenance of actuarial models and tools.
- Collaborate with colleagues in underwriting, claims, and finance on ad-hoc projects.
- Prepare and present findings from your work to the actuarial team.
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL, R, or Python is a significant asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive and eager learner with a demonstrated interest in a career in the P&C insurance industry.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
