Dae It Yersel has been crowned the winner of Britain’s Best Small Business Name 2025.
Harpreet Kaur helped us judge the 2,000+ incredible entries we received – which led to Dae It Yerself winning the public vote.
To celebrate the wit and creativity of small businesses, we’ve been searching for the best small business name in Britain each year since 2022.
“Dae it Yersel has been family-owned since my mother, father, and then-20-year-old brother took over a tiny wee DIY shop in 1970. I’ve been around the shop since I was 3 and used to spend my after-school hours and school holidays here.
“The name is obviously the Glaswegian/Scots version of ‘Do It Yourself’. For both myself and my nephew, who took over running the shop with me when my brother passed away, the shop has always been a part of our lives – it’s the heart and soul of the family. There have been many tough times, like losing my mum, dad, and brother to COVID, but there are far more rewarding times and lifelong friendships that have arisen from our years in Dae It Yersel. We couldn’t be more delighted to have won.”

This Hastings-based locksmiths revealed that his punny business name “brought in untold amounts of work” – and winning the title of Britain’s Best Small Business Name in 2024 just cemented his creativity.
Eggucation
Sheffield-based chick-hatching business, Eggucation, won the Britain’s Best Business Name competition in 2023. Their business provides schools in the UK with a ‘conservation in the classroom’ experience.
Perky Blenders
In 2022, Perky Blenders, a specialty coffee roastery in East London, beat off stiff competition from Suffolk tiler ‘Grout of This World’ and an Edinburgh-based personal shopping business called ‘Satisfashion’.
