Whether you're a professional musician, an art gallery owner or a face painter, your job is to keep people happy and entertained. But any job that involves daily contact with people brings certain risks. A tailored business insurance policy from Simply Business has public liability cover at its heart, giving you the back-up you need while you're keeping things running smoothly or performing in front of a crowd.
Cover from £6.56 a month, get insured in minutes. (10% of direct debit customers repay their annual policy in 10 monthly payments of £6.56 or less across all our trades insured. Public liability insurance is the key cover for most people who work in the arts and entertainment industries. If a visitor, a concert-goer or any other member of the public makes a compensation claim against you for injury or damage, this insurance can step in to cover legal fees and compensation costs. For example if you run an art gallery and a visitor trips over a wet floor and hurts themselves, or if you're a face painter and you spill paint over a client's carpet, your business may face a compensation claim. We offer up to £10 million of cover to protect you from these costs.
Professional indemnity insurance is also worth considering, depending on the type of work you do. This insurance covers compensation claims made against you by a client for negligence or a mistake you've made in your work. For example if you're a photographer and you're sued because a fault with your equipment means you fail to deliver photographs of an important event. When you're considering whether you need this insurance, think about whether your company offers advice, or deals with data or intellectual property.
There's also business equipment insurance if you want to cover crucial kit like your musical instruments or DJ equipment, and employers’ liability insurance, which is usually compulsory if your business employs any staff.
