IR35 criticism, sickness levels, and interest rates - here's your need-to-know business news roundup.

HMRC guidance on IR35 has been criticised by freelance and business groups.

The FSB and Professional Contractors Group said the new guidance on the controversial rules was “counter productive.” [Telegraph]

Reductions in workplace sickness must be maintained according to employers group EEF.

The group noted a downward trend over the past five years, but suggested that sickness rates had not changed since 2010. [BBC]

Interest rates will remain unchanged until 2013 according to economists.

The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee is expected to keep base rates at 0.5 per cent following its monthly meeting on Wednesday. [Telegraph]
