Recently, eight daring adventurers from Simply Business took part in a three day trek across the Alps, raising over £20,000 for disabled children’s charity Whizz Kidz.
The latest fundraising effort sees Simply Business pass the £100,000 mark, having raised the sum in less than a year of working with Whizz Kidz.

If the team expected an easy start, they were wrong - for many, day one was actually the hardest. A relentless climb to the top of the Val Ferret summit tested the groups’ varying fitness levels from the off.
While the they all trained hard for the trekking itself, they couldn’t have prepared themselves for the wind, altitude, and sudden weather changes that were a constant feature of the challenge.
Ascending the Alps is no mean feat, and by day three, there were a lot of aches, strains and tired legs in the group.
With the end in sight, the conditions worsened. Battling torrential rain, the team completed the closing stages tired, but proud.
The team was made up of colleagues from our marketing, tech, and customer service teams (amongst others), but they quickly became familiar with one another.
“We all work in different departments of the business and it’s sometimes difficult to truly get to know people if you don’t directly work with them,” Said Hugo, who works in our marketing team. “But the bond we developed whilst trekking was amazing.”
At Simply Business, culture means a lot to us, and one of our core values, ‘empowerment’ was on full show throughout the trip. Hugo said: “We had everything from pep talks and support to genuine concern, and the team was constantly spurring each other on collectively.”
£100,000 for Whizz Kidz
The trek was the latest in a line of fundraising initiatives for charity partner Whizz Kidz. From Arctic Biathlons to Sahara Treks (and not forgetting the odd cake sale in the kitchen!), we’re passionate about raising money for such an incredible cause.
“The Alps Trek put everything in perspective for me - we were helping disabled children live full, active lives by providing equipment that will help them reach their potential.” Said Hugo. “A truly humbling experience that I was able to help in some way.”
Our latest adventure took us past the £100,000 mark, and we’re excited about raising even more in the future.
