UK’s largest business insurance provider wins first place in The Sunday Times’ Best Companies To Work For 2015 List

Simply Business has been awarded first place in The Sunday Times’ 100 Best Small Companies to Work For list (mid-sized category) this year.

The UK’s largest business insurance provider has climbed from last year's debut in 21st place, to clinch the prestigious top spot in the 2015 list. Simply Business is also a Sunday Times Tech Track 100 company and was recently named in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA.

Launched in 2005, Simply Business provides an online brokerage service delivering policies tailored to individual business requirements and insures over 300,000 SMEs in the UK. The innovative and ambitious company employs almost 300 people across offices in London and Northampton and aims to dominate the UK's small business insurance market through focus on the customer, an individual commitment to great service and data-driven decision making.

The business’ five core principles are:

  1. To be human, but not sloppy or careless
  2. To be clear, but not patronising
  3. To be revolutionary, but not impulsive
  4. To be knowledgeable, but not lofty
  5. To be professional, but not corporate

Jason Stockwood, CEO of Simply Business, said: “Every single colleague at Simply Business plays a key role in the development and success of the company. That is why taking care of our team is our priority and we are ecstatic to receive this well-earned accolade that acknowledges this.

Stockwood says that staff are “given the conditions to define how they’re going to be successful”. Citing David Summers, who leads the company's Northampton contact centre, Stockwood says: “Five years ago he was a guy working on a single project and had never managed a team in his life.” Stockwood's also sanguine about people moving on. “Our job isn’t to keep people in their seats,” he says. “But while they’re here, we can get the best out of each other.”

“We are constantly searching for ways to attract and reward colleagues and as the business landscape continues to evolve, we challenge our ways of working to ensure we are thinking differently from others in our market space. I am proud that Simply Business is a company that never stands still and aims to be the best possible choice for both the customers we serve and our hard working employees.”
