Simply Business is kick-starting its plans for UK and international expansion with significant hires to its leadership team. The nation’s leading online provider of small business insurance has set itself ambitious growth targets to expand its offering with the UK and for the first time, overseas.
CEO Jason Stockwood has announced the following new roles and appointments to help steer the company forward:
- A new role has been carved out for Chief Commercial Officer, which will be filled by recent joiner Alan Thomas (currently effective)
- Operations Director David Summers will be promoted to the existing role of Chief Operating Officer (currently effective)
- Former Pricing Director Phil Williams is the newly-appointed General Manager of Simply Business’ Northampton contact centre, the home of the business’ core customer services operations (currently effective)
- The US operations will be lead by U.S. Managing Director Chris Slater, formerly COO
Following significant investment by new owners, private equity house Aquiline Capital Partners, in April, the business has continued to target more technological capabilities, develop more products and find new markets.
With huge growth in the core operations of the business, Simply Business plan to increase staff from 330 at the beginning of the year to 550 by the end of 2017.
The bigger team will manage operations from a fully refurbished Contact Centre in Northampton due for completion March 2017, and the London offices will move from 1 Finsbury Square to a new address on Gresham Street, closer to the heart of the City of London.
These changes will help the company adapt to growth in its services and customer base, now exceeding 400,000 UK policies. The latest refurbishment reflects Simply Business’ ongoing commitment to maintaining the company’s award-winning team culture, and will encourage knowledge-sharing between departments and professional development initiatives.
Additionally, Simply Business has committed to enter the U.S. market and the new leadership team is preparing to confirm their strategy for market entry by the end of this year. The new US Managing Director, Chris Slater, who has worked at the company since 2004 as COO, will oversee Simply Business’ first expansion into international markets since it was founded in 2005 from new offices in Boston.
