As a Simply Business Senior Product Manager, you’ll help to drive the vision, strategy, design, and execution of a key area at Simply Business. This is an opportunity for the right person to work with stakeholders in the USA and UK, to deliver world class solutions globally that solve key customer and business problems.

  • Managing and launching multi-faceted initiatives that have dependencies with other programs
  • Pitching at all stages of the product life cycle
  • Working with the Engineering Lead and engineering team to maintain and expand payments capabilities

  • Ensuring delivery meets stakeholder expectations and requirements, communicating and explaining changes, and prioritizing requests according to value
  • Managing validated delivery objectives through the agile development lifecycle, ensuring a constant stream of value and regular feedback opportunities
  • Keeping the end customer in mind as you work with other teams throughout the business to provide products and services
  • Understanding how these requirements fit into or transform core Simply Business capabilities and working with the Head of Product to put your focus initiatives into a wider strategy
  • Working with the Engineering Lead to write user stories and acceptance criteria, breaking down delivery into small, trackable chunks and delivering value as early as possible
  • Ensuring internal and external stakeholders are kept up to date with appropriate regular updates and clear communications when changes are scheduled
  • Reviewing and signing-off changes before deployment and ensuring that all production changes meet our partnership agreements and any predetermined timings

Your Skills:

  • Commercial acumen:

  • You are confident at pitching ideas, speaking to influence, and formulating objectives
  • Understand in detail the internal workflow of your domain, and the data generated from the systems
  • Understand commercial imperatives of how Simply Business packages and sells policies
  • Know how to balance technical improvements with new business value, ensuring a keen focus of value-driven prioritization

  • Product and tech skills:
  • You are a systems thinker, who has deep appreciation for the technical opportunities and constraints of our platform, combined with the imagination and drive for how to improve it to enable us to meet commercial goals
  • Able to contribute to the broader vision and strategy of the product team

  • Leadership skills:
  • You inspire others to go beyond what they thought possible
  • Effectively manage as a servant leader for your engineers and product people
  • You define a set of OKRs to measure the success of your product
  • Stakeholder management
  • Articulate progress and manage expectations of business stakeholders
  • You are regarded as the authority in your specialist domain

Your Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience running product teams
  • Track record of delivering complex initiatives to tight deadlines

  • Experience working with Agile projects at scale
  • Experience in lean methodologies and collaboration techniques
  • Creation and execution of a predictable rhythm of rituals for your domain area

What's going on with work from home and return to the office?

More and more, people are talking about going back to the workplace and the new normal. At Simply Business, we’re thinking of it as a Better Normal. That means offering our SBers more choice and greater flexibility to work in a way that’s best for their particular job, their teams, and their lives.

We’re shifting to a hybrid working model, so we’ll have employees working virtually and in the office at any given time.

We’re also aware there are times when working together in person is the best way to get things done. We expect our SBers to connect in their hubs (that’s what we call our offices) most likely once every few weeks. That said, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, so we expect all SBers and their teams will find the operating rhythm that works best for them.

If you’re wondering what it might be like for you at Simply Business, our Talent Acquisition is happy to answer any questions. In fact for them, it’s perfectly normal.

Most of our interviews will still take place over Zoom (however, depending on the role, there may be the opportunity/expectation to meet members of the team in-person).  If it looks like you could be a good fit for the role, we’ll ask you to interview on Zoom – you’ll need WiFi and a laptop, or a 4G-enabled smartphone. If you don’t have access to either of these, or you need support with your application, get in touch with us at [email protected] Similarly, please email us with any questions or if you want to pause your application for a bit – we’ll be happy to keep you updated on future opportunities like the one above.
