We’re looking for an entrepreneurial Product Manager who will drive the discovery and validation of new products, journeys and experiences for our small business and landlord customers. You’ll be our explorer, our scout, testing which new product lines will gain traction in the market. You’ll be responsible for defining and coordinating the complete end to end journey, from acquisition to sale to support. You’ll be comfortable working in ambiguity, but will create an actionable plan to lead the team to clear, specific learnings and outcomes. This is a great opportunity for the right person to drive not only the expansion of new product offerings, but also champion collaborative agile approaches used to identify and assess those offerings quickly.

Your responsibilities:

  • lead a cross-functional team through experimentally-driven discovery — de-risking assumptions each step of the way, and driving learning as a critical outcome
  • iterate an approach for assessing and integrating new insurance products into our existing end-to-end experience (online and offline)
  • understand how existing and new insurance products are built and what’s required from Simply Business to sell those products
  • partner closely with cross-functional business teams to test and deliver your solutions
  • drive pace by having a regular decision forum with stakeholders who decide to “pivot, persevere, or abandon ” your opportunities

Finding and managing opportunities. You’ll:

  • be a systems thinker who’s strong in using continuous discovery experimentation to understand the needs of your customers and insurance carriers
  • challenge the existing approaches and ideas of others, as well as your own
  • formulate the roadmap for your area, ensuring alignment to strategic priorities
  • proactively engage stakeholders to keep them abreast of the latest learnings and results
  • rapidly build knowledge of your domain and assess opportunities
  • define KPIs to measure the success of your approach and your product
  • manage relationships with any third parties related to your product
  • champion Build Measure Learn, creating a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the product management discipline, especially in discovery methodologies
  • suggest opportunities to improve Simply Business based on new technologies, competitors, like-minded businesses, future thinking, and more

Delivery. You'll:

  • work closely with the Tech Lead and team to plan sprints, releases and coordinate across dependent products and teams
  • prioritise and set the team direction, creating a sense of urgency and momentum
  • break down your deliverables into smaller value chunks and iterate through delivery, releasing value early wherever possible
  • coordinate with key stakeholders to launch features (both externally and internally)

Your experience:

  • developing and launching new complex products
  • influencing stakeholders with different objectives to align on a common solution
  • demonstrable ability to rapidly gain in-depth knowledge of your product’s domain
  • a love of collaboration and experience in leading varied groups to swift decisions
  • good technical understanding — we don’t expect you to code, but you must understand how your products are technically architected and have an understanding of engineering and infrastructure best practices
  • excellent critical thinking and decision making skills
  • experience working with Agile projects
  • strong bias to action over deliberation
  • preferred experience in insurance or financial services
