We are looking for a Insurance Broking Lead to join us in London


As a Insurance Broking Lead you'll:

  • build an in-depth knowledge of supply in the insurance market – taking Simply Business’s adjacency strategy into consideration
  • develop a market placement/broking strategy to achieve Simply Business’s new tactics, mapping out critical paths and working with key stakeholders 
  • develop success measures and a communication strategy to key stakeholders
  • lead commercial negotiations for contracts and the onboarding of any new insurers
  • maintain extensive contacts in the insurance market and bring insight of any potential new market opportunities to the business
  • support a segment placement strategy with broking as needed 
  • lead, manage and develop a team of two development managers
  • successfully embed within the New Tactics initiative teams, delivering to time and scope, with key accountability for a robust plan to market for placement in each initiative

Responsibilities include:

  • line manager responsibility for the team including targets, OKRs and development
  • accountability for the delivery of a new markets placement strategy that delivers budgets, targets, and OKRs for new tactics
  • deliver commercial income across new insurers, considering the best customer outcomes 
  • responsibility for the team's expenditure within Simply Business's core measures
  • resolving any day-to-day issues with insurers
  • being a subject matter expert on new markets, insurers, and their products

What we’re looking for:

  • someone who is assertive, confident, self-assured and calm under pressure  
  • highly skilled at negotiation, adept at achieving results in ambiguous circumstances
  • capable of interacting with all levels of contacts in the insurance market, and building strong, effective relationships built on mutual trust and delivery
  • the ability to leverage a wide network of UK insurer contacts, including insureTechs
  • someone who is self-reliant and motivated 
  • strategic in their approach – capable of identifying key market factors to inform decisions about potential capacity fit and any required changes to our operating model to win
  • strong insurance product and market knowledge
  • highly organised and capable of delivering team and personal goals through periods of uncertainty and pressure
  • able to use their own energy to motivate others – inside and outside of Simply Business
  • uses good judgement and makes strong recommendations and decisions
