Simply Business’ Customer Solutions Center (CSC) is seeking an enthusiastic Insurance Technical Trainer to help and support the development, delivery, and maintenance of training programs within the CSC. This is an exciting opportunity to help set up new sales and service team members for success in their roles, ultimately creating a major impact on the overall engagement and performance within the CSC and at SB. 

They will play a key role in the development of our training program for our Sales and Service teams within the CSC.  

As an Insurance Technical Trainer you will:

  • Be responsible for development, delivery, and maintenance of training solutions for the CSC as it relates to onboarding, refreshers, & operational changes (i.e. systems, insurance knowledge, skill development, customer service skills)
  • Design and develop effective, engaging, modern training materials with consideration of adult learning principles. (If you can make learning insurance FUN, yet impactful, this is the role for you!)
  • Consult internal and external subject matter experts where applicable from technical and business backgrounds to develop, review, and optimize training material 
  • Evaluate learning interventions to measure impact and quality of training
  • Gather data, respond to evaluation outcomes, and provide recommendations to relevant stakeholders
  • Utilize available learning technology systems (LMS, onboarding tools) to create and maintain training content
  • Conduct and analyze training needs assessments to establish training priorities and desired learning outcomes
  • Have the ability to lead and facilitate training via Zoom and Google Meet, and in person if/when applicable 
  • Collaborate with and develop a close and productive working relationship with the Sales and Service Operations Manager, Training & Change Analyst, and Learning & Development department
  • Manage end to end logistics of training programs through scheduling, registration, tracking

What we are looking for:

  • Prior classroom facilitation (both in person & virtual) and systems training experience required
  • Knowledge of insurance industry and technical experience preferred
  • Experience developing content using popular authoring and design tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline 2, Captivate, Camtasia, etc.) preferred 
  • Proven ability to translate complex topics into digestible content and learning journeys 
  • Someone who stays up-to-date on the latest training trends and insurance newsAdapts quickly to changing priorities 
  • Someone comfortable with ambiguity and willing to jump in and solve challenges
  • Someone who is able to effectively prioritize  
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Strong stakeholder and team collaboration skills

What's going on with work from home and return to the office?

More and more, people are talking about going back to the workplace and the new normal. At Simply Business, we’re thinking of it as a Better Normal. That means offering our SBers more choice and greater flexibility to work in a way that’s best for their particular job, their teams, and their lives.

We’re shifting to a hybrid working model, so we’ll have employees working virtually and in the office at any given time.

We’re also aware there are times when working together in person is the best way to get things done. We expect our SBers to connect in their hubs (that’s what we call our offices) most likely once every few weeks. That said, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, so we expect all SBers and their teams will find the operating rhythm that works best for them.
