We’re Simply Business

We insure small businesses and enable big dreams – not just for our customers, but for our people and communities too. With over 750,000 active insurance policies, we protect builders, bakers, landlords, and more than 1,000 other trades.

We harness cutting-edge data ability, believe in experimentation, and build our own technology to deliver better experiences for our customers and employees. This means we’re as much a technology company as one that sells insurance. We build, we fail, we learn, we improve. We’re a B Corp too, which recognises our strong track record of having a positive impact on people, society and the environment.

If Simply Business sounds like the kind of place you’ll thrive, we’d love to hear from you.

Working here as we get back to normal

After working remotely for so long, we have a vision for how our people will work with each other now and in the future.

Every employee should have the choice and flexibility to work in a way that’s best for their job, their team, and their life.

We know that being together in person is usually the best way to get work done, which is why our offices will become ‘hubs’ that we expect our employees to visit every so often. That said, there’s no one-size-fits all solution, so all of our people and teams will find the rhythm that suits them best.

We need a Senior Product Manager, on a 11 month fixed term contract, to join us in London.

As a Simply Business Senior Product Manager, you’ll help to drive the vision, strategy, design, and execution of a key area at Simply Business.

This is an opportunity for the right person to work with stakeholders in the USA and UK, to deliver world-class solutions globally that solve key customer and business problems.

Your responsibilities:

  • managing and launching multi-faceted initiatives that have dependencies with other programmes
  • pitching at all stages of the product life cycle
  • liaising with financial and operational stakeholders to develop and execute the proposition and growth plan, delivering on the existing strategy
  • making sure delivery meets stakeholder expectations and requirements
  • communicating and explaining changes, and prioritising requests according to value
  • managing validated delivery objectives through the agile development life cycle, making sure there is a constant stream of value and regular feedback opportunities
  • keeping the end customer in mind as you work with other teams throughout the business to provide products and services
  • understanding how these requirements fit into or transform core Simply Business capabilities
  • working with the Head of Product to put your focus initiatives into a wider strategy
  • working with the Engineering Lead to write user stories and acceptance criteria, breaking down delivery into small, trackable chunks and delivering value as early as possible
  • making sure internal and external stakeholders are kept up to date with appropriate regular updates and clear communications when changes are scheduled
  • reviewing and signing-off changes before deployment and making sure that all production changes meet our partnership agreements and any predetermined timings

Your skills:

  • identify and solve the needs of internal customers through innovative use of technology — prioritise scalable solutions over quick-fix solutions
  • you’re confident at pitching ideas, speaking to influence, and formulating objectives
  • understand in detail the internal workflow of your domain, and the data generated from the systems
  • understand commercial imperatives of how Simply Business packages and sells policies
  • know how to balance technical improvements with new business value, making sure there is a keen focus of value-driven prioritisation
  • you’re a systems thinker, who has deep appreciation for the technical opportunities and constraints of our platform, combined with the imagination and drive for how to improve it to meet commercial goals
  • you’re able to contribute to the broader vision and strategy of the product team
  • you inspire others to go beyond what they thought possible
  • you effectively manage as a servant leader for your engineers and product people
  • you define a set of OKRs to measure the success of your product
  • you articulate progress and manage expectations of business stakeholders
  • you’re seen as the authority in your specialist domain

Your experience:

  • extensive experience running product teams
  • track record of delivering complex initiatives to tight deadlines
  • proven experience in positively influencing suppliers and stakeholders
  • experience working with agile projects at scale
  • experience in lean methodologies and collaboration techniques
  • creation and execution of a predictable rhythm of rituals for your domain area
