Some drivers willing to bend truth
Some drivers are prepared to economise on the truth when dealing with their insurance company, new research has found.
According to data released by comparison site Confused.com, when it comes to penalty points or driving-related convictions, 21 per cent and 20 per cent respectively of drivers would not be inclined to immediately inform their insurance provider.
"If you move address, receive points for a driving conviction or have an accident, even if that is only a minor knock or ding, you need to notify your insurer immediately," said Debra Williams, managing director of Confused.com.
"Insurers take a dim view of people who don't update them immediately should their circumstances change," she added.
Indeed, when it came to minor knocks, a majority (73 per cent) of respondents confirmed they would not be immediately forthcoming.
