A new survey has found that skilled tradesmen in the UK are not quite so easy to find.
According to the results of a study by Budget Van Insurance, over the last 24 months 19 per cent of British households have encountered problems with finding a skilled tradesman for a particular job.
Moreover, of those who had work carried out by British tradesmen, five per cent confirmed they were very dissatisfied with the work. "Demand for skilled tradesmen remains strong with many of us finding it tough to get the people we need to carry out essential jobs," said Lisa Corston, a representative from Budget Insurance. "Historically we've imported the skills of tradesmen where there have been gaps in the labour market and it seems that this tradition is set to continue," she added.
However despite this trend, of those who have been able to hire a tradesman over the last two years, six per cent have employed the services from someone either from Poland, or elsewhere in central or eastern Europe.
