Details of a health and safety event for contractors who hire tree-specialists, have been provided by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Taking place in Buckinghamshire today (February 26th), the event has been planned with organisations and local authorities that hire tradesmen such as tree-specialists in mind. During the day, the focus will be on the provision of advice for tree contractor management, in addition to demonstrating the dangers associated with working with trees.
"Working as an arborist takes great skill and requires extreme care and it can be dangerous if safe working practices are not followed," said David Head, principal inspector for the Buckinghamshire area at the HSE. "The consequences of getting it wrong can be serious and in some cases fatal."
Among the subjects under discussion is the guidance provided by the Arboriculture and Forestry Advisory Group, in addition to the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998. More commonly, aborists are known as tree surgeons.
