The creator of an online tradesmen directory has said he wants to champion the cause of customers and reliable tradesmen.
Iain Gunn's new directory promotes good tradesmen and exposes industry 'cowboys' who tarnish the reputation of plumbers, builders and, electricians and other workmen.
The directory is compiled according to what customers say about the tradesmen and small firms, thereby allowing potential customers to check their reputations.
Mr Gunn told the Reading Evening Post: "Consumers benefit by being able to verify the credentials of a potential supplier before picking up the phone.
"Businesses benefit by having an independent place where their customers can blog their thoughts on goods or services received."
Directoryof.co.uk can be searched by postcode and it lists directory members ranked in order according to feedback.
In May, the government announced new measures designed to limit the red tape for reputable businesses while clamping down on rogue traders.
