Britain's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has issued a warning in relation to the potential dangers of workplace transport.

Given the potential to impact upon the health and safety of both staff and members of the public, the HSE has confirmed plans to hold a number of events in Newport as a way of disseminating risk management advice to businesses that may be affected.

Indeed, according to the HSE, every year incidents involving transportation lead to approximately 2,500 serious injuries. "We are often called to investigate incidents across Wales where people have been injured or killed by moving vehicles in a workplace and across Britain it remains the second biggest cause of fatalities," said Michael Thomas, principal inspector for the HSE.

"Preventative measures are often extremely simple to implement." The events, which will take place in March, will be run with the participation of local authorities across the south-east of Wales.
