Britain's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has released a warning in relation to its asbestos-related campaign in the Greater Manchester area.
Dubbed 'Asbestos the hidden killer!' the HSE has confirmed its hopes to prevent a replication of history in the Greater Manchester area by issuing a reminder of the dangers that currently exist in relation to asbestos.
Indeed, according to data released by the organisation, there are a total of 20 fatalities caused by exposure to asbestos every week and four of the region's local authorities are among the worst for asbestos-related fatalities.
"The 'Asbestos the hidden killer!' campaign is specifically aimed at young tradesman such as plumbers, electricians and joiners after research highlighted that while they recognised the dangers of asbestos, they didn't believe they were personally at risk," said Steve Coldrick, the head of the disease reduction programme at the HSE.
Exposure to asbestos is known to be related to a number of diseases, including diffuse pleural thickening, asbestos-related lung cancer and mesothelioma.
