HSE myth of the month

Britain's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has issued a statement in an effort to clear up a myth in relation to park benches.

The HSE has confirmed that that the idea that all park benches should be replaced because they are three-inches too low is utter nonsense.

The statement has been issued by the organisation as part of its myth of the month series.

"It seems that the story originated from a decision by a facility manager and has no basis in health and safety law at all," said the HSE.

"There are no such bench height requirements and HSE will definitely not be sending our inspectors around measuring the benches."

Earlier this year, the HSE sought to dispel the myth that those with expertise in the field of health and safety have resolved to make the lives of business people miserable.
