According to online shopping discount site MyVoucherCodes, the internet is reaching new highs in terms of online shoppers in comparison to the high street where consumer confidence is slipping.
The site contributed to £118m of internet sales in 15 months for companies listed on its site, and claim sales in the first quarter of the year alone have exceeded 2007 figures.
Site owner Mark Pearson said: Mark Pearson said: “The results so far this year have been absolutely phenomenal and it just goes to show that even though people are starting to find ways to try and tighten their belts, when it comes to spending they are addressing this by looking to find bargains online.”
All retailers should be realising that the internet can no longer be ignored as a valid source of new customers. Shops without an online presence will be at a disadvantage in the long term.
