Toy shops may face stock shortage come Christmas
Toy shops around the UK may find themselves short on some of the most popular toys when the Christmas shopping season arrives.
Over 90 percent of toys are currently manufactured in Asia. Problems arose after toy giant Mattel was forced to recall 19 million Chinese-made toys because of safety scares.
This has lead to a delay in supplies across the industry, with a number of popular ranges affected including Polly Pocket, Batman and Barbie. Increased checks on all the toys being exported from China have led to delays, and deliveries to the UK and Ireland are running a month behind.
Famous toy store, Hamleys, said it was sourcing more stock from UK suppliers.
