Home-based businesses must get the right insurance
Getting the correct business insurance is essential for home-based firms, a small business expert claimed today.
With increased use of technology by home-based companies, it is becoming increasingly important to make sure that small business insurance policies cover all technical upgrades, enterprise company StartupCo said.
John D'Groot, director of StartupCo, said: "Content insurance might need to be adjusted, very often renting regulations or mortgage agreements don't allow you to run a business from home.
"You must insure you have the right things in place to be able to run a business from home. Once the small business grows beyond the capacity of the home the real challenge is finding the move on space."
According to the most recent research by the Office for National Statistics small to medium-sized businesses, including business insurance customers, account for more than half the employment (58.7 per cent) and turnover (51.1 per cent) in the UK.
