A survey has highlighted the importance placed upon working conditions by employees.
Entitled What Workers Want, the study by Savills - a firm of estate agents - has found that in addition to financial remuneration and job security, employees place the most importance upon workplace comfort.
Specifically, 82 per cent of respondents confirmed that working conditions are of primary importance, reports Personnel Today.
"Our research would … suggest that property fundamentals such as light and temperature are a primary concern and investors and developers should factor these into buying criteria," said Marie Hickey, the associate director of Savills, a firm established in 1855.
"Companies are becoming more and more concerned with staff retention."
As part of the concern over staff retention, Ms Hickey noted that companies are also offering solutions such as flexible working and making more effort with amenities such as onsite child-minding facilities.
