The publication of a report relating to the health of those of working-age in the UK has been welcomed by Judith Hackitt, the chair of the Health and Safety Commission (HSC).

Entitled 'Working for a Healthier Tomorrow', the report has been published by Dame Carol Black, the national director for health and work.

The report has been published as a consequence of a wider initiative, known as the Health Work and Well-being strategy.

"I welcome the report by Dame Carol and the Health and Safety Executive [HSE] looks forward to playing its part in preparing the government's response," said Ms Hackitt.

"The [HSE] has been involved in the evidence gathering stages of the process and see this report as another key step."

In striving to protect individuals from work-related health and safety risks, the HSC undertakes a number of different activities, including conducting research, offering advice and encouraging training.
