Britain's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has sought to raise awareness of the issue of work-related stress.
Highlighted by the organisation is information outlining the causes and consequences of stress in the workplace, in addition to information relating to good practice and advice for individuals. T
The organisation also examines why it is important to deal with stress within the workplace and management standards are also discussed. Indeed, the HSE believes that taking action against work-related stress can lead to a number of workplace benefits, including reducing staff turnover, increasing productivity and enhancing the commitment of employees.
"Pressure is part and parcel of all work and helps to keep us motivated," said the HSE. "But excessive pressure can lead to stress, which undermines performance, is costly to employers and can make people ill."
According to data released by the HSE, more than one out of every three instances of employee illness are linked with workplace stress.
