Women willing to take more business risks

Women are more willing to take risks when setting up their own company, one business expert has claimed.

According to the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs, more women want to take a chance and establish themselves as entrepreneurs as opposed to starting a family.

However, Tanya Hine, president of the association, stated that a woman who wants time off to bring up children may not get offered the opportunities which men and childless females do.

But "some women have no wish to work the longer hours that men do, so it [business] is of their own making, as they don't wish to put in their own time," she stated.

However, in the current economic climate, both men and women are struggling as much as each other, concluded Ms Hine.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics found that nearly a quarter of women work in public administration, education and health.
