The uptake of VoIP telephony is stronger among smaller firms, an expert has claimed.
According to comments made by Maren Bennette, head of the Unified Communications Forum at the Communications Management Association (CMA), VoIP uptake is larger as a result of there being a larger number of small to medium-sized enterprises and that adoption is only now starting to take place.
"The smaller company and organisation growth in adoption is larger because there are many, many more of them and they are only really just beginning to adopt VoIP," said Mr Bennette.
"In the early days, at the beginning of the century, the first users were in the main, mid-sized companies and organisations," he added.
Indeed, according to Mr Bennette, larger organisations are now accepting of the permanence of VoIP telephony.
Among the benefits of VoIP is location independence.
