Temping jobs in jeopardy
A survey has revealed that fewer workers are temping than ever before thanks to the downturn in the economy. Job-hopping is no longer a secure way of working, even for the most dedicated temps.
Recruitment scoring agency Hire Scores conducted the research to which 1,500 workers responded. 81% of temporary office workers said that compared with the same time last year they were now more likely to stick with a job rather than look elsewhere for the next big thing. They said that this was due to a perception that work would now be harder to find due to the economy.
Lisette Howlett, Managing Director of HireScores.com said, “Our research shows that temporary employees are becoming reformed job-hoppers and ditching the once common trend of switching jobs whenever they got fed up with a company because there was a buoyant economy and jobs in plentiful supply. With the current economic gloom workers are now clinging onto their jobs for fear that they may struggle to find another one.
“In recent months the recruitment sector has been thriving with more and more people coming to agencies looking for work but it now looks as though demand is far outweighing the number of jobs available”.
