SMEs should utilise brand when recruiting

Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) should make use of their brand when sourcing new employees, it has been suggested.

According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), in addition to brand utilisation SMEs should be making the most of the benefits of the internet when embarking on the process of recruitment.

"It's really about making sure that your adverts sell you as an organisation, to attract individuals - so, highlight your benefits and work culture to attract the right people for the position," said Emma Price, senior press officer for the CIPD.

However, when making use of the internet, the CIPD advises SMEs to undertake the appropriate candidate verifications, such as checking candidate suitability and qualifications.

Although the London-based CIPD was established in 2000, its history goes back to 1913 when it was known as the Welfare Workers' Association.
