SMEs could make use of viral marketing

According to comments made by a representative from Kontraband, an entertainment-orientated website, SMEs could make use of the marketing technique as, among other things, it can be implemented at lower cost when compared with other methods.

"If small businesses want to do it, they can take a more grass roots approach by creating viral forums or blogs to generate PR around their business," said the representative.

"It is something that everyone should consider and it is something you can just do yourself. It doesn't cost money, it just costs time," he added.

Essentially, the term viral marketing refers to the technique of using either word-of-mouth or the internet to distribute a particular message.
