SMEs can implement flexible working more easily
Britain's small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) are better-equipped to implement practices for flexible working, it has been claimed.
According to the results of new research conducted by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in partnership with the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), SMEs are better suited to flexi-time because they have fewer bureaucratic barriers to overcome.
"Britain's small businesses are making flexible working a reality for millions of people across the country," said George Osborne, shadow chancellor.
"This is social responsibility in action, both employees and employers can really benefit from flexible working," he added.
Indeed, according to David Frost, director of the BCC, a recent survey found that 38 per cent of employers made it possible for staff to work from home.
In related news, the Conservative party has promised to offer all parents the ability to request flexible working.
