SMEs benefit from broadband
86% of Britain's small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) benefit from a broadband internet connection, it has been reported.
According to Brett Marino, business manager of IT firm Small Business Computing, a broadband internet connection can benefit an SME through the ability to transmit far higher volumes of data than slower dial-up internet connections.
Indeed, according to data released by BT Business this year, of those firms employing less than 50 members of staff, 86 per cent utilise a broadband internet connection. "Broadband is a fast connection to the internet that is always on," said Mr Marino. "This means you can send and receive vast amounts of data and information up to ten times faster than a standard dial-up connection," he added.
The firm also cited inexpensive access as a further advantage of a broadband connection. Based in London, Small Business Computing specialises in IT services for SMEs.
