The findings of a new survey have highlighted the impact of nomophobia in Britain.
A poll by the Post Office has raised the issue of nomophobia, a phenomenon whereby people become anxious when they cannot be contacted via mobile phone.
The Post Office's findings are based upon a study of 2,100 individuals.
"We're all familiar with the stressful situations of everyday life," said Stewart Fox-Mills, telecoms expert for the Post Office.
"But it seems that being out of mobile contact may be the 21st century's latest contribution to our already hectic lives."
Indeed, the survey found that out of every ten individuals, one felt it necessary to be available via phone at all times, because of their profession.
The condition is believed to affect in excess of 13 million individuals.
A number of different techniques can be utilised to reduce stress levels, including taking exercise and meditating.
