Online SMEs should be aware of copyright dangers
Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with an internet presence should be aware of web-orientated copyright issues, it has been claimed.
According to Matt Hardman of the Forum of Private Business, SMEs should be aware of their presence online, as they may expose themselves to a greater risk of falling victim to copyright or intellectual property theft.
"It's not just the brand name and your company; your web presence is also something that you need to think about and the content that you're putting on there," said Mr Hardman. "The moment you go online, you're going into a wider market," he added.
Indeed, according to Mr Hardman, such SMEs should also ensure that they do not utilise the web content of other firms, even unintentionally.
The Forum of Private Business was established in 1977 and represents Britain's private business sector.
