NFEA: Small businesses should embrace new technology

The development of the internet and other technologies means that small businesses do not have to be based in one place all of the time, according to a major industry trade body.
Tradesmen and other self-employed workers can run their business operations through mobile phones, wireless internet connections and Blackberrys - without the need for an expensive office, the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA) stated.
As a result, many small enterprises can be run cheaply and more flexibly than they were a few years ago, before such technologies became affordable, George Derbyshire, chief executive of the NFEA, said.
He added: "New business owners can focus on getting their business off the ground first and foremost without the risk or financial pressure of workspace overheads."
The NFEA is a network of independent, not-for-profit local agencies which support new and small businesses.
