Half of companies don’t allow flexible working
Research by Cisco suggests that while a business manager’s top concern is finding and retaining talented staff, around half of them do not allow remote or teleworking from home or locations other than the office.
This apparent dislike of remote working for employees is reflected in their IT investment plans. Home working ranked as the lowest influencing factor on IT managers’ purchasing priorities.
The Cisco report stated: “The right relationship and expertise mix between chief executive and chief information officer is crucial. Specifically, the chief information officer needs business as well as technical skills, to ensure that specialists do not just pursue their own technical agenda alone.”
The overall findings of the study suggest that although most business leaders are embracing IT and accepting its role in their company’s success, in many cases this does not include more flexible working options for staff.
