Green initiatives good for SMEs
The implementation of green initiatives would be a positive move for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), it has been claimed.
According to comments made by Envirowise, a UK-government funded programme for sustainable resources, the implementation of green initiatives is not only a good business opportunity, but it also facilitates a reduction in resource wastage.
"All businesses use resources, but the cheapest resources that any business will ever find are the ones that it doesn't use," said Simon Drury, director of business partnerships at Envirowise. "Recycling isn't always the answer, it should be the last thing that you do," he added.
Data released by Envirowise found that on average, businesses tend to waste four per cent of their resources, although 53 per cent of firms surveyed by the organisation have implemented measures to improve efficiency. Envirowise was established in 1994.
