Envirowise: Green firms can boost their finances
Becoming more environmentally friendly can boost a business' finances, according to advisory service Envirowise.
The group offer free, confidential advice to UK firms to help them increase profitability and to reduce their environmental impact and are keen to point out the business finance benefits of going green.
Dr Martin Gibson, programme director at Envirowise, explained that initial outlay could soon be recovered.
"Financial savings will always accompany improved environmental performance," he explained, adding that "up to 85 per cent of environmental initiatives do not cost anything at all".
Suggested measures include reducing resource use, such as printing double sided on paper and using efficient transport, while Dr Gibson emphasised that companies can enjoy greater savings, the more measures they implement.
Envirowise offers an Environmental Management System to help small to medium-sized firms make such changes. It highlights certain areas to focus on and ways to save both money and the environment.
