Discrimination continues in many workplaces

There is still a lot of discrimination in the workplace in businesses across the UK despite legislation designed to reduce inequality, a major trade body has claimed.
Recent research by Employment Law Advisory Services found that more than half of UK bosses assess the chances of a female member of staff falling pregnant before employing them.
As a result, the Employment Lawyers Association (ELA) has stated that UK businesses still have a long way to go to be completely objective to the career chances of many potential employees.
Secretary of the ELA Richard Linskell said that he is not surprised that such discrimination exists, as many managers do not stick to the guidelines set out for them.
He added: "There is still a lot of discrimination in the work place, despite the fact that many organisations do have policies in place to prevent discrimination, I am sure that this does go on because to some extent that’s human nature."
