Poorly handled conflict can damage corporate reputations, it has been claimed.
Data released in a report by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), an organisation established in 1990, shows that a total of 68 per cent of experts in the field of public relations can recall the identities of firms who have managed conflict poorly.
However, 33 per cent were able to identify firms with good records for managing conflict.
"The findings of this survey reaffirm what public relations professionals have known instinctively for some time, that everything an organisation says and does impacts on its reputation and how it is seen by others," said Colin Farrington, director general of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).
The findings of the report were based upon the responses of the CIPR's membership base.
In total, 160 individuals were polled.
