Forthcoming legislation governing corporate manslaughter and corporate homicide is causing problems for those involved in the field of human resources (HR), it has been claimed.
According to comments made by Gillian Hibberd, the HR director for Buckinghamshire County Council, in an interview with Employers' Law, the forthcoming legislation is presenting a number of different problems, reports Personnel Today.
"It's causing headaches among HR colleagues and we all need to be preparing now for its introduction," said Ms Hibberd. "At least the new Act brings clarity, even if it does add to the increasing burden of legislation that employers now have to contend with."
Formally known as the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, the new legislation enters into force on April 6th 2008. The reference to corporate manslaughter is effective in Northern Ireland, England and Wales - corporate homicide relates specifically to Scotland.
Royal assent was granted for the forthcoming act on July 26th 2007.
