Companies urged to make small changes to go green

Despite more businesses and tradesmen becoming concerned with the effects of climate change, not enough companies are putting resources in to affecting the outcome, according to an industry expert.

Small companies only need to change little things - such as lightbulbs - in order to have a positive impact on the environment, the Green Consultancy stated.

Turning off computer screens - and not leaving machines on overnight - will not only help reduce the onset of climate change but also will decrease the company's electricity bill, saving money in the long-run, John Treble, managing director of the company, said.

He added: "There is a whole range of different measures and a lot of it is good housekeeping and training staff to do the appropriate thing."

A report by the Johnson Controls Energy Efficiency Indicator survey showed that although companies say they are concerned about climate change, they still do little to tackle it.
