In partnership with KPMG, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), has released data showing a weakening in the demand for staff in the UK.
According to the findings of the latest Labour Market Outlook survey prepared by both organisations, demand for staff in the UK has fallen to a low-point not seen for 48 months.
The findings of the study are based upon a poll of 735 employers.
"Conditions in the UK labour market are clearly softer than six months ago and softer than at this time of year for several years," said John Philpott, chief economist at the CIPD, an organisation with a history going back to 2000.
"[However,] net hiring - recruitment minus redundancies - remains strongly positive."
Mr Philpott also observed that the current performance in the area of net hiring suggested that the UK's labour market was not in any immediate danger of collapsing.
