The British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) has announced that it will commit to a long-term plan to help start-ups become successful businesses.
The first stage of the plan has been to put together a start-up pack containing information and help on most of the issues that start-up companies face. These include free business banking from RBS, and offers relating to telecoms and services. There is also free legal advice.
John Dunsmore, Chairman of the BCC, was galvanised into action because of all the start-ups that fail in the UK. He said: “Encouraging entrepreneurship is high on everyone’s agenda but that is not enough – you have to match that commitment with practical support for start-up businesses in their critical first few years. I believe it is time for all the pro-enterprise talk to be matched by action.
"The BCC intends to use its knowledge, influence, contacts and network to make a major difference to the UK’s start-up businesses. Our Business Start-Up Pack is the first deliverable for this strategy.”
Future plans for start-ups include a business networking portal and Growth Clubs.
