Businesses should have web presence

News from Simply Business - independent providers of business information for SMEs, business insurance, business finance, landlord insurance & buy-to-let mortgages

Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) should maintain an internet presence, it has been claimed.

According to comments made by Adam Wayland, editor of smallbusiness.co.uk, although it is not essential for all businesses to operate a highly-interactive website, a presence on the internet is nevertheless necessary.

"I don't think every small business needs a website that is totally interactive and using Flash and using very high-tech programs, but I do think it's important for small businesses to have a web presence because that’s how people look for their services these days," said Mr Wayland.

However, according to data released by UK Online, two out of every three SMEs - operating with up to a maximum of ten employees - are continuing to operate without making use of email or a website, and even lack an internet connection.

Smallbusiness.co.uk is a specialist provider of resources, services and products for SMEs and those just starting-up.
