Businesses prefer to purchase office space
UK-based businesses would rather purchase office space in place of renting, it has been reported.
According to comments made by Matt Hardman, a representative from the Forum of Private Business (FPB), although there is a preference to purchase, this trend is being weakened by a shortage of space and a desire to witness the effects of recent interest rate rises.
"Until March this year, the experience our experts have is that it was about three to one in favour of buying," said Mr Hardman.
"But now … there is a lack of availability of premises. People are waiting on the market to see which way interest rates go," he added.
However, Mr Hardman noted that the internet is playing a part in the decision-making process, with people gaining an increased level of freedom to decide where they locate to.
