Businesses keen to buy green energy
Companies are constantly trying to save money on their business insurance and energy bills, but it seems they also have a desire to be 'green' at the same time.
The latest research from business insurance provider Co-operative Insurance has revealed that many of the UK's leading firms are keen to benefit from renewable energies.
However, many firms feel that they are hampered in their drive to be environmentally-friendly by red tape and a lack of necessary infrastructure.
David Anderson, chief executive of Co-operative Financial Services, commented: "Climate change is making UK businesses look at their environmental impact and explore ways to lower their carbon emissions.
"Switching their energy supply to green electricity is an important step but there is currently too much red tape putting companies off."
The business insurance firm is urging the government to take companies into consideration when devising policies, adding that in order for alternative energy solutions to be economically attractive, investors would have to be confident that they were both technologically and politically robust.
