Britons leave UK en masse
The summer holiday season has meant that August 11th was Britain's "emptiest day", recent research has found, and this may have an impact on the retail and leisure industry in the UK.
According to the results of a study by AA Travel Insurance, more Britons were predicted to be travelling abroad on August 11th than on any other day this year. "With so few opportunities for a lengthy holiday and the not-so-hot British summertime it’s no real surprise that the weeks before bank holiday offer an added incentive to go on holiday," said Christian Young, chief executive of AA Travel Insurance.
Many businesses see an impact on sales at this time of year, because customers are out of the country but also because employees are on holiday too.
Businesses should prepare in advance for quiet periods and for any impact made by absent staff.
