Benefits of customer loyalty schemes highlighted

Small businesses in the UK should consider implementing customer loyalty schemes, it has been claimed.

Kerry Kyriacou, a business advisor for Business Link, has highlighted the need for small firms to consider implementing a customer loyalty scheme as a strategy for retaining customers, in a climate where consumer patterns are now difficult to rely upon.

"I believe that customer loyalty has fallen off the edge, so any programme that is well presented to retain customer loyalty is a huge step forward," said Ms Kyriacou.

"There are lots of challenges and opportunities for the small retailer and the online retailer to make the loyalty programmes work."

However, the organisation stressed that, in the field of customer loyalty programmes, consumers now expect offerings to be both innovative and exciting.
